If you have a bird cage, place it outside near where you usually see the bird. Remove the existing bird feeder and place a few large sprigs of millet in the cage. If possible, you could hang the cage on the bird feeder. If not, on a table close to the feeder. Leave the door of the cage open and make sure that the millet can only be accessed by the bird by going into the cage. You will need to remain nearby to close the cage door once the bird enters and to chase away any animals or birds of prey. Be prepared to do this for a few hours every day. The budgie will recognize a cage as a safe place and may even enter on the very first day. This works! My budgie accidently got out. Luckily he stayed in the backyard and recognized his cage. I hope this works for you.

Hi! Oh goodness someone must have let that budgie out. Could you DM me on Instagram? This is going to take more than a one sentence comment to make it happen.

There’s a budgie that comes to my outside bird feeder. I live in southern Ontario, Canada. Any suggestions for how to cage it so I can bring it indoors. It’s November.
